NHLBI to Provide Funding Opportunities to Advance Hematopoietic Cell Transplantation

The National Heart, Lung, and Blood Institute (NHLBI) released a notice stating its intention to publish funding opportunities and solicit applications for the Data and Coordinating Center of the Blood and Marrow Transplant Clinical Trials Network. This is an effort to advance treatment for patients with rare blood diseases by using traditional hematopoietic cell transplantation, as well as novel cell and gene therapy approaches.

The NHLBI anticipates publishing the funding opportunities in July 2016, with an application deadline of September 2016. Opportunities will be geared toward investigators experienced in:

  • Clinical trial design
  • Coordination of multi-center clinical trials for hematologic diseases
  • Data management
  • Statistical analyses
  • Novel cell therapies
