HHS Appoints Adviser for Drug Pricing Reform

Health and Human Services (HHS) Secretary Alex Azar, JD, appointed Daniel Best as senior adviser for drug pricing reform. Mr. Best is the former vice president of industry relations at CVS Health, where he oversaw prescription drug and Medicare Part D plans.

Sec. Azar also announced that Assistant Secretary Brett Giroir, MD, will add to his duties by serving as senior adviser for mental health and opioid policy.

“Under President Trump, HHS has an historic opportunity to confront a number of America’s pressing health challenges, including the high price of prescription drugs and our country’s opioid crisis,” said Sec. Azar in a statement. “These leaders will play a unique role at HHS in driving coordination and results on these vital issues.”
